Food Bank on Wheels Announces Exciting New Partnership with Amazon!

We are thrilled to announce a new partnership with Amazon that will significantly enhance our ability to serve vulnerable families in our community. Starting September 3rd, Amazon will be leveraging its drivers to assist with our pickups and deliveries, marking a major milestone in our mission to bring food hampers directly to those in need.

At Food Bank on Wheels, we understand the immense challenges faced by single-parent families who may be dealing with physical or mental illnesses, or caring for children with disabilities. We are a team of dedicated volunteers working out of a basement suite in Pit Meadows, and our goal is to provide dignity and support by delivering nutritional hampers directly to the doorsteps of families who can’t access regular food banks. Each month, our clients receive 10 to 12 days’ worth of food, providing crucial support when they need it most.

This new collaboration with Amazon is a game-changer for our organization. By utilizing their drivers for transportation, we can save valuable time and money. This allows our volunteers to focus on the other essential work that keeps our operations running, such as sorting donations and assembling the hampers that bring so much relief to the families we serve. As the founder, who was raised by a single mom, shared, the organization was created to help those who are struggling to get to the grocery store. One of our volunteers, Britney, who suffers from a seizure disorder, can relate to our clients and understands the importance of our work, as it once impacted her own mobility.

This partnership comes at a time of significant growth for Food Bank on Wheels. We currently serve around 100 clients in the Tri Cities, Maple Ridge, Langley, and surrounding areas. The support from Amazon will enable us to continue expanding our reach and impact, ensuring more families receive the help they deserve. We are also actively seeking additional warehouse space in Pit Meadows to accommodate our growing operation.

We believe that no one in our communities should go hungry. Our mission is to continue providing dignity and support to those who need it most, and this partnership with Amazon is a monumental step forward in that journey.
